A recent incident in a Chick-fil-A drive through in Tennessee highlights the efforts of an employee who swiftly moved in to tackle an attacker who was beating a police officer.

The video shows an unhinged man windmilling punches and beating down the police officer. Several eyewitnesses rushed to help the officer, including a Chick-fil-A employee who detained the suspect allowing the officer to regain his bearings and move in to make the arrest.

We breakdown the fight here in the video below on the TSG Defense YouTube channel.

Despite the warning here from YouTube, there is really no gore here, it's a good illustration of a bare-handed attack by a committed adversary.

Memphis television station WREG also ran a news story with the video at the link. In it one eyewitnesses, Kyle James, says he wanted to help the officer in the fight.

“It hits close to home. My father-in-law is a police officer and I just think that police officer has family and stuff like that. If it was a normal person I’d step in too,” he said.

“The Chick-fil-A employee who stepped in to help stop the man who was hitting the officer deserves recognition,” said one witness. “The CFA employee should get employee of the year for the nice takedown of the person.”

The Collierville Police Dept. confirmed the suspect was likely suffering from a mental health crisis and was taken to a nearby facility for treatment.

“Our officer was treated for minor injuries and will make a full recovery,” the police department said in a statement. “We appreciate the citizens who offered assistance during this call for service.”
